I was listening to Sovereign Grace’s Come Weary Saints cd this evening as I folded laundry, and the following song is just so WORSHIPful.

It Is Not Death to Die

It is not death to die
To leave this weary road
And join the saints who dwell on high
Who’ve found their home with God
It is not death to close
The eyes long dimmed by tears
And wake in joy before Your throne
Delivered from our fears
O Jesus, conquering the grave
Your precious blood has power to save
Those who trust in you
Will in your mercy find
That it is not death to die
It is not death to fling
Aside this earthly dust
And rise with strong and noble wing
To live among the just
It is not death to hear
The key unlock the door
That sets us free from mortal years
To praise You evermore.
O Jesus, conquering the grave
Your precious blood has power to save
Those who trust in you
Will in your mercy find
That it is not death to die

Praise God we don’t have to fear death. Death has touched each of us differently, some less directly than others. Due to our father Adam’s sin in the Garden, each one of us is dead already. Dead in God’s eyes because of the sin that comes from simply being a human. Each of us has a time, set from before the beginning of time, when we will die. God foresaw this, but just as He foresaw Adam’s first sin, so He foresaw the Perfect Sacrifice in His Son that would conquer Death, conquer the Grave, and enable those of us who are called by His Name to live in eternal fellowship with Him. Amen and amen.
